Reimagining field work through creative methodologies and collaborative learning
We invite applications for our upcoming Spring School, designed for PhD students and early-career
researchers engaged in fieldwork. This four-day program offers a unique opportunity for participants to
critically reflect on and enhance their fieldwork methodologies by integrating insights from feminist
and anti-colonial scholarship.
Through a combination of theoretical exploration and practical sessions, attendees will gain a deeper
understanding of the complexities in field research and develop the skills necessary to navigate and
challenge entrenched academic assumptions.
What distinguishes this Spring School is its multi-disciplinary, grassroots nature. Conceived and
facilitated by PhD students from various faculties at Ghent University, the program prioritizes an
interdisciplinary perspective, accommodating participants from a wide range of research backgrounds.
With a strong emphasis on peer learning, this Spring School provides a supportive environment for
participants to re-imagine their approaches to “the field”, equipping them with creative and
collaborative tools applicable across diverse research contexts.
