Information retrieval spans over its influence on a multitude aspects in research. It is not simply a set of mechanical searches, but an ongoing process linked to different stages throughout your research. Effective and successful information retrieval requires information literacy, which is part of an individual’s capability to understand, manage and critically evaluate information. This course is to provide systematic information retrieval techniques and resources, and to foster your skills to obtain information successfully. Through learning and practice sessions, you will improve your ability to develop an effective search strategy, to find relevant information, to extract meaningful and satisfactory results, and subsequently to stimulate innovation and exploration of improved approaches for your academic and professional performance and competitiveness.
