About FIRRI
The Forum of Belgian Interuniversity Research on the Rehabilitation of Internal Diseases (FIRRI) is a collaboration of early-career researchers working on rehabilitation in internal diseases across Belgium. FIRRI aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, research, and skills among young researchers and to stimulate potential interuniversity collaborations. This annual symposium will focus on fundamental and clinical aspects of the latest innovative approaches in the rehabilitation of internal disorders. The program includes:

  • Two keynote lectures: Dr. Tessa Van Loenen (Radboud UMC, Utrecht, The Netherlands) and Prof. Bruno Bonnechère (UHasselt, Belgium), both aligning with the symposium theme.
  • Oral presentations by six PhD students and postdocs discussing their own research.
  • Poster session for abstract presenters not selected for oral presentations.

Abstract Submission:
Researchers and master students are encouraged to submit abstracts to present their work, either as oral presentations or posters. Abstracts do not need to align with the symposium theme, allowing for a wide range of research topics. Deadline for abstract submission is February 20th.

The aims of this symposium are:

  • Share and discuss recent research findings from both keynote speakers and early-career researchers.
  • Facilitate scientific exchange among early-career researchers and foster interuniversity collaborations.
  • Promote interactions between researchers and clinical experts.
