Meet the Jury Alice Cicirello on Learning Non-Conservative Mechanics via Enhanced Lagrangian Neural Networks

Arenberg Doctoral School is proud to invite you to Meet The Jury!

When internationally renowned experts visit KU Leuven as a member of a PhD Examination Committee, we like to seize this opportunity to give this expert a forum to a large audience. All members of Science, Engineering & Technology are most welcome to the Meet The Jury Lectures.

Prof. Alice Cicirello (University of Cambridge, UK) will give a lecture on “Learning Non-Conservative Mechanics via Enhanced Lagrangian Neural Networks”.

Following the lecture, there will be opportunity for young researchers to interact with her.

This presentation will cover recent developments in a physics-enhanced machine-learning strategy based on Lagrangian Neural Networks, developed in collaboration with Rob Seaborne. The main steps and assumptions underlying the proposed strategy will be presented. The approach will then be demonstrated through two experimental case studies: a double pendulum and a six-degree-of-freedom industrial robotic arm.
