Meet the Jury Firat Guder on Wearable and implantable devices for intelligent human-machine interfaces
Arenberg Doctoral School is proud to invite you to Meet The Jury!
When internationally renowned experts visit KU Leuven as a member of a PhD Examination Committee, we like to seize this opportunity to give this expert a forum to a large audience. All members of Science, Engineering & Technology are most welcome to the Meet The Jury Lectures.
Prof. Firat Guder (Imperial College London, UK) will give a lecture on “Wearable and implantable devices for intelligent human-machine interfaces”.
As we move toward a future of personalized medicine, the boundary between humans and technology is disappearing. This talk explores the next generation of intelligent human-machine interfaces covering three innovations from my group: first, an adaptive metamaterials called Roliner, which uses smartphone-controlled soft robotics to make prosthetics more comfortable. Second, we look at the future of intelligent textiles PECOTEX, a new class of materials for computerized embroidery of bioelectronics that transforms ordinary cotton into sensors for physiological monitoring. Finally, I will cover our work on MiFi, an origami-inspired implant that can fold to the size of a matchstick for easy insertion and then unfold to monitor internal chemistry.
Following the lecture, there will be opportunity for young researchers to interact with him.
