2.30 pm – Anne Grünewald – “Mitochondrial Signaling in Parkinson’s disease”

Prof. Anne Grünewald is Professor of Neuroscience and Head of the Molecular and
Functional Neurobiology Research Group of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems
Biomedicine at the University of Luxembourg. She is also Professor and Head of the
Mitochondrial Function in Movement Disorders Section at the Institute of
Neurogenetics at the University of Lübeck. Her work focuses on mitochondrial biology
and mitochondrial signaling, particularly in the context of Parkinson’s disease.

3.15 pm – Sylvie Urbé – “Diverse mitophagy pathways offer new therapeutic opportunities
for translation in Parkinson’s disease”

Sylvie Urbé is Professor of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at the University of
Liverpool. Her work focuses on membrane trafficking and cell signaling with a view to
understanding pathological mechanisms linked to e.g. Parkinson’s disease. She has a
strong interest in deubiquitylases and investigates their potential therapeutic value in
oncology and neurodegenerative diseases. Her team contributes to drug discovery
programmes of deubiquitylase inhibitors.
