Spring School on Transdisciplinary Methods: Addressing the energy puzzle / decarbonization
There is a growing urgency regarding the need for impact-oriented science providing responses to complex real-world issues. This calls for a research approach enabling greater integration among disciplines, leveraging various bodies of knowledge and valuing all voices without hierarchical distinctions. Such transdisciplinary approach is shaping the future of academic research.
If you are a young researcher eager to combine insights from your own research area with those from other disciplines like engineering, economics, or philosophy; if you are passionate about investigating a topic relevant to the energy transition while striving for scientific impact, please do not miss this opportunity!
The KU Leuven Institute for the Future invites PhD students, Postdocs, and early-career researchers to a 5-day training program to tackle one of the most pressing global challenges while developing essential skills for transdisciplinary research and collaboration. The program is built in collaboration with the Belgian Nuclear Research Center (SCK CEN).
What’s in it for you?
• Learn to address complex real-world problems by combining diverse perspectives across academia and society.
• Gaining hands-on experience in transdisciplinary methods, from co-creating systems, target, and transformational knowledge to designing desirable future scenarios.
• Collaborate with international peers and societal actors on the energy trilemma: balancing environmental sustainability, energy security, and equity.
2025 Focus
Addressing the energy puzzle: What could be the role of advanced nuclear technology in responsible energy transitions?
Why Join Us?
This is your opportunity to learn how to co-create socially robust interventions in a world of uncertainty and complexity, equipping you with skills to drive change in energy systems and beyond.
