IUI Workshop for analysis of non-invasive biomedical imaging (BLI, CTscan, Echocardiography, MRI, PET)

The  interuniversity workshop on non-invasive medical and experimental imaging is open to all researchers who are interested in learning more about non-invasive imaging techniques and their applications in biomedical research. The number of participants is limited to 100 people, so please register as soon as possible by filling out this form by April 3, 2024https://forms.office.com/r/syVfqMS8mx

This workshop aims to provide an overview of the applications and challenges of non-invasive imaging techniques in biomedical research, with a focus on cancer and inflammatory diseases. You will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field, who will share their insights and experiences on topics such as bioluminescence imaging (BLI), computed tomography (CT), echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and software for analysis of radiologic data. You will also have the chance to get an insight on the different analysis approaches, network with other researchers, and discuss your own projects and questions.

The workshop will also feature presentations by the following speakers:

  • Prof Christian VANHOVE: the head of the INFINITY lab of University of Ghent and an expert in non-invasive biomedical imaging, especially for laboratory animals. He will talk about multimodal imaging for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy.
  • Prof Damya LAOUI: a group leader at VIB-Center for Inflammation Research and a professor at VUB. She is an expert in tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy. She will talk about CT imaging of lung tumors and metastases.
  • Prof Filipe ELVAS: a professor at the University Antwerp, who develops and validates radiopharmaceuticals for PET and SPECT imaging of different cancers.
  • Prof Greetje VANDE VELDE: a professor at the Imaging and Pathology Department at KU Leuven. She is an expert in multimodal non-invasive imaging for biomedical research. She will talk about novel imaging-supported mouse models of respiratory infections.
  • Prof Liz JONES: a professor at the CMVB at KU Leuven. She is an expert in vascular remodeling and adaptation. She will talk about echocardiography in cardiovascular disease models.
  • Dr Jeroen Cant: CTO of Radiomics, and a representative of Thermofisher Amira, that will talk about AI-based software for the analysis of radiologic data
  • Additional speakers focusing on BLI imaging and radiotherapy solutions for the small animal in KU Leuven
