Prof. Costanza Saletti (University of Parma, Italy) will give a lecture on “Smart solutions for integration and management of energy networks and sustainable fuels”.

SHORT ABSTRACT:
The context of the energy transition requires novel advanced solutions for addressing the growing complexity and integration of energy systems. This seminar outlines the research activities of the “Smart Energy Systems” research group of the University of Parma (Italy), dealing with the development and demonstration of smart solutions for optimal design and management of energy systems and networks. The talk starts from the recent past of this research line, presenting three Model Predictive Control tools for district heating tested in real-world case studies, and moves to the present, with the evolution of these methods toward generalization, sector integration and coordination, to address more complex contexts.

SHORT BIO:
Costanza Saletti received a MSc in Energy Engineering from the University of Pisa (Italy) in 2017 and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Parma (Italy) in 2021. Since 2022, she is Assistant Professor at the Department of Engineering for Industrial Systems and Technologies of the University of Parma. She is lecturer of the course “Smart Energy Systems” for the MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Parma and assistant lecturer for other courses in the field of fluid machinery and energy systems. Her research interests are related to modeling, optimization and control of integrated energy systems, district heating networks and renewable fuel production systems.

Following the lecture, there will be opportunity for young researchers to interact with her.
