Meet the jury: Prof. Jean-Ehrland RICCI (Université Côte d’Azur) on “Metabolic control of anti-tumor immunity”.

Prof. Jean-Ehrland RICCI (Université Côte d’Azur, INSERM, C3M, Nice, France) on “Metabolic control of anti-tumor immunity”.
This lecture is hosted by prof. Max Mazzone.

Date: 24 January 2023, 16.00
Location: Campus Gasthuisberg, KU Leuven, Auditorium ON5, 4th floor

Abstract
Exposure of immune cells to conditions present in the tumor microenvironment triggers distinct stress-induced signaling pathways that may limit their anti-tumor potential. Stress detection and response is coordinated at the ER by the unfolded protein response (UPR), a signaling pathway governed by 3 ER stress sensors, of which IRE1 is the most conserved. In this presentation, we will discuss how targeting energy metabolism (using pharmacological agents or specific diets) can impact UPR, cancer development and anti-tumor immunity.

About the lecturer
Prof. Ricci is a research director at the C3M – Inserm institute, Université Côte d’Azur in Nice and he coordinates the “Metabolic control of cell deaths” lab. His main focus is to understand how the deregulated metabolism of cancer cells might impact their response to chemotherapy and to the anti-cancer immune response.

This lecture will be held in the context of the public PhD defense of Federica Cappellesso, for which Prof. Jean-Ehrland RICCI is assigned as jury member.
