Workshop: Walter Benjamin

The Walter Benjamin Workshop aims to provide a collaborative environment for scholars of Walter Benjamin. The workshop is a collaborative effort by scholars at Emory University (Atlanta, Georgia, United States) and KU Leuven, in partnership with researchers from the universities of Ghent and Antwerp. Over the course of three days, Benjamin scholars from both sides of the Atlantic are brought together to study a series of hitherto understudied works of cultural criticism. During this time, participants will engage in an immersive reading of Benjamin’s texts in addition to intensive co-writing workshops.

The workshop will also feature keynote lectures that are available to a wider audience. These lectures will be delivered by Dr. Duy Lap Nguyen (University of Texas, Houston), Dr. Ronald Mendoza-de Jesús (Emory University, Atlanta), and Dr. Frank Voigt (Emory University, Atlanta). The lectures will be held in a hybrid format, and can be followed in person at the institute of Philosophy in Leuven (Kardinaal Mercierzaal) or via zoom (see link below). Attendance is free.

Registration is not required.
